Today, it retains many of the original "Beauty Kit" parts such as
the side covers and chromed air filter screen. The forks and front brake are
also original 1970 parts, while the fork sliders, rear hub and a few other
misc. parts have been chromed.
The Califonia Custom look has been achieved mainly by stripping off the instrument
binnacle, fork covers, and gaiters, replacing these with a Bates headlight
and mount, and fitting a shapely, smaller sized unmistakably genuine Triumph
fuel tank.
More chrome on the triple clamps sets off a very nice mounting of a small black-faced Smiths Chronometric speedo. Also very Californica is the solo saddle, pillion pad, bobbed rear fender, and a sexy Lucas rear light/license plate bracket, a style in vogue at least as far back as the mid-fifties.
